At AREC, we’re growing, and we’re looking for a Veterinary Oncologist who’s ready to grow with us. Whether you’re board-certified or residency-trained, this is an opportunity to shape the future of oncology services in a hospital that values clinical excellence, ethical medicine and genuine work-life balance.

Why AREC?

We’re a purpose-built, 24/7 specialist, referral and emergency hospital with over 100 team members and a big vision. Since 2004, we’ve been providing gold-standard care to animals across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley and beyond. Now, we’ve expanded into a brand-new, custom-designed hospital, complete with:

  • Two surgical theatres

  • Eight consult rooms

  • A dedicated ICU

  • Specialist diagnostic imaging suite with CT and ultrasound

  • Separate wards for exotics, cats and infectious patients

  • Full in-house lab

  • On-site pharmacy

  • Comfortable spaces for staff to rest and reset

AREC offers a comprehensive range of specialist, referral and emergency services designed to support complex patient care and collaborative case management. Our team delivers specialist and referral services in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, rehabilitation, behaviour and ophthalmology, complemented by a 24/7 emergency and critical care service. This breadth allows for a truly integrated approach, with each department working together to deliver high-quality outcomes for patients and their families.

Our model supports collaboration across specialties, and we’re committed to sustainable rosters and healthy caseloads. You'll have the time, space, and support to do your best work, and to keep learning along the way.
